King Solomon admonished us in the book of Proverbs 3:5 that we should “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; and the reason for this is stated in verse 7 which says “:Do not be wise in your own eyes”; the implication of this is that man in the flesh lacks wisdom and God is calling on total trust in Him in decision making. With this understanding, Divine Wisdom is one the 7 spiritual realities that was purchased for mankind by Jesus Christ through redemption ( Revelation 5:12) . Similarly , Apostle Paul in Ephesians 1:17, prayed for the manifestations of the spirit of wisdom for the saints in Ephesus for their spiritual growth and development . Thus, man without Divine Wisdom cannot make exploits spiritually nor secularly in fact. without wisdom man live in vain and without fulfilment.

What is Not Wisdom – More enough than not, Divine Wisdom is wrongly defined .Apostle James gave an insight into what Divine Wisdom is and what is not . Wisdom is not smartness , cleverness neither it is about winning an argument. It is not gained out of experience nor age. Wisdom is not knowledge ( 1 Corinthians 8:1a).

What then is Divine Wisdom?

The dictionary describes wisdom as an application of knowledge to make good decisions. The Bible however recognized 4 types of wisdom as defined by their sources ( James 3:15) .First, is the Earthly wisdom which is common sense which distinguish between right and wrong. Second, is Sensual wisdom which is scientific, acquired from education and through studies /experiment. Third, is Satanic wisdom that comes from the devil acquired through occultic , which is impure and self – centered. The fourth is Godly or Supernatural Divine Wisdom sourced from God only ( James 3:17a). Divine Wisdom is expressed in good conduct ( James 3:13), It is pure, peaceful and willing to yield (James 3:17).

Jesus is the wisdom of God ( 1 Corinthians 1:21-22, 24) and He was the Word that was with God from the beginning of the world by whom the heaven and earth was established ( Proverbs 8:22-31, John 1:1-3). Jesus is the custodian of wisdom ( Colossians 2:3) no wonder the Pharisees we’re astonished about His supernatural teaching , preaching and the Mighty works done by Him ( Mark 6:2).

Divine Wisdom can be defined as the accurate application of knowledge or information. It’s the supernatural abilities to use both the written and inspired Word of God to make accurate decisions and provide supernatural solutions to problems.

Value of Divine Wisdom

The legend of wisdom , King Solomon described Wisdom as the principal thing that all men need to acquire because of it’s intrinsic values (Proverbs 4:7 ). Divine Wisdom gives ability to know the ways of God ( Proverbs 2:5). It provides, shield from trouble, it gives integrity, equity and justice to those that acquire it ( Proverbs 2:9-11). Divine Wisdom is the path to success and attaining purpose in life ( 1 kings 4:31 Psalms 104:24). Good governance is established by Divine Wisdom ( Proverbs 8:16; Deuteronomy 34:9). Happy is the man that has acquired wisdom ( Proverbs 3: ) and he has understanding than the ancient ( Psalms 119:99-100).

How to Acquire Divine Wisdom

Job searched for the source of Divine Wisdom and submitted that she cannot be found in the land of living nor in the depth or in the sea; it cannot be purchased. Destruction and death have no idea where to acquire Divine Wisdom but submitted of having heard of her frame. Job, therefore concluded that only God knows the way of this Wisdom and He is the custodian ( Job 28:17-23). Apostle James said Divine Wisdom comes from God alone ( James 1:5;) . King Solomon also said God gives Divine Wisdom (Proverbs 2:6a). Divine Wisdom is a gift from God ( James 1:5).

Conditions to Acquire Divine Wisdom

There are strategies or conditions to be met before Divine Wisdom can be given. We shall examine the strategies adopted by The legend of Divine Wisdom , King Solomon as detailed in 1 Kings 3.

1. Passionate Love for God and for things of the Kingdom ( 1 Kings 3:3).The Bible recorded that Solomon loved the Lord.
2. Demonstration of the Fear of Lord . Solomon walked in the statues of God .( Proverbs 9:10, 1 Kings 3:3). The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Obedience is a key factor to demonstration of the fear of the Lord.
3. A Sincere Desire to be a blessing to others ( 1 Kings 3: 5-9) . Solomon expressed selflessness and sincerity to serve the people the God had given him to judge with the application of the wisdom.
4. Sincere Desire to use the gift of the wisdom for the Glory of God only and not to puff up ( 1 Kings 8:9).
5. Generous Deep Sacrifices in all ramifications/ Obeying the Laws of Giving ( 1 Kings 3:4). King Solomon sacrificed 1,000 offerings to God in Gibeon to express his love and appreciation .Being givers to God, His kingdom and to men.
6. Asking from God . Solomon responded to God by asking for the spirit of discernment. ( 1 Kings 3:9) . The book of James 1:5 said whoever lacks wisdom should ask God .
7. Asking with strong Faith – A waving and unstable spirit will receive nothing from God ( James 1:6-8).
8. Conversant with the Word. Solomon asked for the sword ( the Word of God) in order to pronounce judgement on the most celebrated case of the two women and the dead child (1 Kings 3:24;) Reading and meditating in the Word on daily basis ( Joshua 1:8) is the key to success ( a derivative of Divine Wisdom) .
9. Denial of the delicacies and pleasures of life as practiced by Daniel and the 3 Hebrews ( Daniel 1:8) . Discipline in eating and drinking.

How is Divine Wisdom Received

Divine Wisdom is received after asking from God through these processes.

1. Sacrifices of meditation by intentionally setting time aside for God . ( Proverbs 18:1; Joshua 1:8; Job 32:8) this will pave way for creative thinking and new ideas.
2. It comes with patience ,continuous praying and abiding in the Word for it’s not a hasty spirit. Daniel asked for time from the King Nebuchadnezzar to acquire Divine Wisdom from God for interpretation of his dreams ( Daniel 2:16).
3. It is received through dreams and visions ( Hebrews 1:1) God appeared to Solomon( 1 Kings 3:) in the dream and to Daniel in a vision ( Daniel 2:3). However, when you receive the vision, do write it down for there might be an appointed time for it’s manifestations ( Habakkuk 2:2-3).

Do you want to go far in life ? Do you want to attain purpose and fulfill destiny? Do you want to be prosperous and honoured? Do you want to become a solution provider? Then, employ these principles and humbly ask God for Divine Wisdom , He gives liberally without reproach. It takes Divine Wisdom to be prosperous, to be a great leader, to be an accomplisher, to be a successful business tycoon. Divine Wisdom teaches how resources should be allocated for optimal results and wins with superior augments. She will love and protect you, She will exalt you and put a crown of glory on you. After the celebrated judgement of Solomon between the 2 women, he was honoured, respected and his fame spread all over. Do you want to be peace- loving, known for justice and fair play ? Seek wisdom! Are you going through a situation or you at the end of the road on some issues? Divine Wisdom is the solution provider. What are you building? A career, a home, a business, a marriage, a home , your children,a relationship? Wisdom is the great build ( Proverbs 24 :3a) seek her out and use her .

Earthly wisdom will fail, education, smartness and experiences could fail too but the Divine Wisdom from God stands forever and produce far superior results. Stop leaning on your wisdom and understanding draw Divine Wisdom from the foundation of wisdom, Jesus Christ on daily basis, study and meditate on the Word for supernatural success and prosperity ( Joshua 1:8). Wisdom is calling on you to embrace her and to be used in all aspects of life. She is the only wise one. Use her liberally, she is a solution provider and the way paver to success, prosperity and fame.

Divine Wisdom is not static, it grows on daily basis, the Bible recorded that Jesus Christ grew in wisdom and favour on daily basis ( Luke 2:52) . Likewise l pray we will continue to grow in wisdom of God on daily basis in Jesus name amen .
